A family of fish in the order Acanthurus. Its body is whale-shaped (→ Cetaceans), soft and squishy. Its dorsal fin is located backwards and opposite its anal fin. It has a large head. Its mouth is also large, but its eyes are extremely small. Its fins have no spines. It inhabits the mid-depths and deep layers of the open ocean around the world.
