Schneider, a ski teacher in Arlberg, Austria, compiled them into the Alpine skiing technique known as the Arlberg school. This became the basic technique for alpine racing, and a French school led by Émile Allais appeared, and alpine racing developed in Germany and Switzerland. In 1924, the International Ski Federation (FIS) was formed, and skiing appeared at the first Winter Olympics (Chamonix) in the same year, but only in the men's Nordic events. …
