Kusagusano Miyuki - Kusagusano Miyuki

...They were conscripted by the kokugunji to do miscellaneous local services for up to 60 days a year. Miyuki was institutionalized in the Asuka Kiyomihara Code when the Chinese Ritsuryo system was adopted, but it has an ancient reading of Kusagusano Miyuki, and is a labor service that follows the lineage of Miyuki from before the Ritsuryo system. Miyuki is presumed to have originated from the service duties given to the Emperor or his Mikotomochi (Kokusai, etc.) when they traveled around the provinces, and is thought to have been labor for the Imperial Court, separate from the labor that local powerful clans independently conscripted from the local community.
