…Abbreviation for taxi cab. Under the law (Road Transportation Law), the name of a taxi is a "general passenger vehicle," and the transportation business using it is defined as "a general automobile transportation business that charters a vehicle with a passenger capacity of 10 or less under a single contract to transport passengers" (Article 3 of the same law). It is a form of transportation that differs from a public bus in that it is not a shared transportation, and also differs from a chartered bus in that it is a chartered transportation using a vehicle with a seating capacity of 10 or less.
