…It is found in areas south of central Honshu, the East China Sea, and Taiwan, but is more common in areas with strong warm currents. It is called by many different names depending on the region, such as Issaki in Kyushu and Okuseigo in Tohoku. Juveniles have three clear dark brown vertical stripes on their sides, but they become less noticeable and disappear when the fish reaches a body length of 20 cm.
