Founder of the former Le Dynasty of Vietnam. Reigned 980-1005. Born in Thanh Hoa. Served under Dinh Bo Linh, and after Linh unified Vietnam, he became General of the Ten Daos and held military power. After Linh and his son Lien were assassinated in 979, he installed a six-year-old emperor as regent and defeated his opponents one by one, calling himself viceroy. In 980, the Song Dynasty heard of the destruction of the Dinh Dynasty and ordered Hou Renbao to invade Vietnam. In response, the Vietnamese generals supported Le Hoang for the throne.

ベトナムの前レ(黎)朝の創始者。在位980‐1005年。タインホアの出身。ディン･ボ･リン(丁部領)に仕え，リンのベトナム統一後，十道将軍となって軍権を握った。979年にリンと太子のリエン(璉)が暗殺されるや，6歳の幼帝を立ててみずからは摂政にのぼり，副王と称して反対者を次々に倒した。980年に宋はディン(丁)朝の壊滅を聞いて侯仁宝に命じ，ベトナムに進攻させようとした。これに対しベトナムの諸将はレ･ホアンを帝位に推した。
