Etsumi Mountains - Etsumisanchi

Japanese:
Etsumi Mountains - Etsumisanchi
A mountain range stretching from southeastern Fukui Prefecture to Gifu Prefecture. It is also called the Mino-Echizen Mountains or Nokotsu Mountains. Its main peak is Nogo-Hakusan (1,617m). It belongs to the oldest mountain range in the southwestern Japan Inner Zone, and the summit has an eroded surface. On this flat surface, a row of remnants are lined up, with Kanmuriyama showing a unique eboshi-shape. Several faults run through the mountain range, and until modern times it served as an important transportation route connecting Echizen and Mino. The 1891 Nobi earthquake and the Neodani Fault that was created by it are well known. It is part of the Ryohaku Mountains.
