Chronic toxicity test

Subacute toxicity tests involve continuous administration of one or more animals for one month or more, while chronic toxicity tests involve continuous administration for three months or more (six months or more for those expected to be administered continuously for one month or more), and a wide range of tests are conducted to determine the toxicity that appears after administration, including mortality, weight curves, pathological anatomy, hematological tests, and clinical biochemistry tests. Rats, rabbits, dogs, and other experimental animals are used, and chronic toxicity tests require tests to be conducted at four levels of dose, including the maximum safe dose and the toxic dose, including a control group.
