Ichinoseki Domain

During the Edo period, this branch domain of the Sendai Domain had its residence in Ichinoseki, Mutsu Province (Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture) and held 37 villages in Nishiiwai, Higashiiwai, and Kurihara counties with a fief of 30,000 koku. The lord of the domain, the Tamura clan, was succeeded by Muneyoshi, the third son of Date Tadamune, the second lord of the Sendai Domain, who inherited the name of the Tamura clan, the former lord of Miharu, and in 1660 (Manji 3), he was given 30,000 koku in Iwanuma, Natori County (Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture) and was ranked as a daimyo. During the time of his son, Takeaki, he was transferred to Ichinoseki in 1681 (Tenwa 1) to replace Date Munekatsu, who was stripped of his fief due to the Date Disturbance, and the Ichinoseki domain was established the following year. After that, Nobuaki, Muraaki, Murataka, Murasuke, Muneaki, Kuniaki, Kuniyuki, Michiaki, and Kuniyoshi held the fief for 10 generations until the Meiji Restoration. The kokudaka was a share of the main domain's landholding, and policies were often based on that of the main domain. During Takeaki's reign, he took care of Asano Takumi-no-kami, who was accused of stabbing. The Kyoseikan, a domain school. After the abolition of the domain, it passed through Ichinoseki Prefecture, Mizusawa Prefecture, and Iwai Prefecture before being incorporated into Iwate Prefecture.
