Chorobune - Chorobune

Japanese: ちょろ船 - ちょろぶね
Chorobune - Chorobune
A small Japanese boat that was used mainly in the Seto Inland Sea, from Kitakyushu in the west to the Kii Peninsula, Tokaido, and Tokyo Bay in the east. It is generally said to have been a light boat with a length of about 7m and shoulder width of 1.2m, a box-shaped bow, and two oars. In Edo, it was also used as a patrol boat by the magistrate's office, and at Kinoe Port on the Seto Inland Sea, it was also used by women to board anchored ships. It is said that "choro" is a word that means small in size. [Ishizuka Takatoshi]
