Easter Agreement

...The outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War in July of that year increased Britain's defense burden, and Italy's inclination toward Germany, joining the Anti-Comintern Pact on November 6 and withdrawing from the League of Nations on December 11, strengthened Chamberlain's ties with Italy and widened the gap between him and Eden, who resigned as Foreign Secretary in late February 1938. The Easter Agreement, which resolved the outstanding issues between Britain and Italy, was then signed on April 16.
