Izukyu Railway - Izukyuko

Japanese: 伊豆急行 - いずきゅうこう

A railway company affiliated with Tokyu Corporation that operates between Ito and Shimoda. It has a strong tourism flavor, as it is also developing resorts along the line. Founded in 1959 as the Ito-Shimoda Electric Railroad. Construction work on the railway began in 1960, and the Ito-Shimoda section opened the following year in 1961, with trains departing from Tokyo Station beginning to run there. The company changed its name to its current name in the same year. In 1963, it began selling villas in Izu Kogen. Since then, it has continued to invest in new businesses such as hotels, leisure facilities, and shopping facilities. It has worked to develop tourism in Izu by renovating station buildings and introducing new trains. In 2004, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyu Corporation. In 2012, it came under the umbrella of Izukyu Holdings, an intermediate holding company, following its establishment.

伊東―下田間で営業する東京急行電鉄系の鉄道会社。沿線のリゾート開発も展開しており観光色が強い。1959年伊東下田電気鉄道として設立。1960年に鉄道建設工事を開始し，翌 1961年伊東―下田間が開通，東京駅発の電車が乗り入れを開始。同年現社名に変更。1963年伊豆高原で別荘地の分譲を開始。その後ホテル，レジャー，ショッピング施設など新規事業への投資を続けた。駅舎の改築や新型車両の投入など，伊豆観光の発展に努める。2004年東急電鉄の完全子会社となった。2012年中間持株会社伊豆急ホールディングスの設立に伴い，その傘下に入った。
