A shite actor in the Kanze school of Noh.

First World

(1885-1940) was the adopted son of Kiyoyuki, a member of the branch family of the Kanze Tetsunojo family. His former name was Hattori Kita. Although he was excommunicated from the Kanze main school over the issue of publishing a Noh book, he was a master of the art, praised for his intricate style of performance, which was like that of lacquer art.

(1902-77) Nephew of the founder, his former name was Takeo Nagashima. He performed in Venice and Paris in 1954 and 1957 (Showa 29 and 32) with Kita Minoru and others.

(1935-) Second-generation adopted son, formerly known as Kanze Takeo. Gentle style of performance. Head of the Kyuko-kai, based at the Yarai Noh Theatre. His eldest son is Kanze Yoshimasa.

(1885―1940)観世銕之丞(てつのじょう)家の分家である清之の養嗣子(ようしし)。旧名服部喜多(きた)。謡本刊行問題で観世宗家から破門される事件もあったが、蒔絵(まきえ)のように巧緻(こうち)な芸風をうたわれた名人。

(1902―77)初世の甥(おい)で、旧名永島武雄。技巧的な芸風。1954、57年(昭和29、32)喜多実(みのる)らとベネチア、パリで演能。

(1935― )2世の養子で、前名観世武雄。温厚な芸風。矢来(やらい)能楽堂を拠点に九皐(きゅうこう)会を主宰。長男に観世喜正。
