...The holes through which the thong passes are called eyes or points, and usually have three holes, but those with four holes, such as the Hamageta of the Hokuriku region, with holes in the center on each side, can be worn backwards. The six-hole stone geta (burial goods) excavated from ancient tombs were also worn in the same way. Geta are divided into two types: linked teeth and sashi teeth; those with two linked teeth are called komageta (masa geta in Kansai), and those worn by courtesans on the road are called mitsuba geta....
