Ikehara Dam

This dam is located in Shimokitayama Village, Yoshino County, southeastern Nara Prefecture. It is the largest arch dam in Nara Prefecture, constructed by the Electric Power Development Company as part of the Yoshino-Kumano Comprehensive Development Project in the midstream of the Kitayama River, a tributary of the Kumano River. It is 111 meters high, 318 meters long, has a reservoir area of ​​6.5 square kilometers, and a usable storage capacity of 220 million cubic meters. It is part of Yoshino-Kumano National Park. Downstream is the Ikehara Power Station (pumped storage, output 350,000 kilowatts) and Dorokyo Gorge.

奈良県南東部、吉野郡下北山村にあるダム。熊野川支流の北山川中流に、吉野熊野特定地域総合開発事業の一環として建設された奈良県最大の電源開発会社発電用アーチ式ダムである。1964年（昭和39）に完成し、堤高111メートル、堤長318メートル、貯水池面積6.5平方キロメートル、有効貯水量2.2億立方メートルで、吉野熊野国立公園の一部をなす。下流に池原発電所（揚水式、出力35万キロワット）と瀞峡(どろきょう)がある。
