Deformed steel bar - Ikeiboko

A type of steel bar, with uneven nodes of various shapes on the surface of a round bar. There are three types of steel bars used for reinforced concrete, depending on how they are made: hot-rolled steel bars, hot-rolled deformed steel bars, and cold-rolled deformed steel bars, with the latter two having uneven surfaces on the round bar created by hot or cold rolling. The uneven surface improves the adhesion between the concrete and the rebar, and disperses cracks in the concrete, increasing its strength.

棒鋼の一種で、丸棒の表面に種々の形状の凹凸の節をつけたもの。鉄筋コンクリートに用いる棒鋼には、作り方により、熱間圧延棒鋼、熱間圧延異形棒鋼、冷間圧延異形棒鋼の3種があり、後の二者は熱間あるいは冷間圧延によって丸棒の表面に起伏をつける。表面の起伏によってコンクリートと鉄筋の付着性を高め、コンクリートに入るひび割れを分散させて強度を大きくすることができる。
