British North America Act

...A general term for a series of movements in Canadian history that culminated in the formation of the Dominion of Canada on July 1, 1867. In a narrow sense, its beginning can be traced back to the Charlottetown Convention in September 1864, but in a broader sense, its origins can be seen in the unification of the Upper and Lower Canadian colonies in 1841. The idea of ​​unifying the British North American colonies can also be said to be a product of the American Revolution, which saw the birth of the United States of America. External factors that led to the realization of this long-standing goal include the departure of Britain from its colonies, which celebrated liberalism, and the strengthening of American expansionism and protectionism after the Civil War.
