Incidentally, the title of "Sente-gashira" was a combination of "Sente-yumi-gashira" (also called "Osaki-yumi-gashira" or "Sogo-yumi-gashira") and "Sente-teppo-gashira" (also called "Osaki-tsutsu-gashira" or "Sogo-teppo-gashira"). In peacetime, they took turns to be on duty at the Renchi Gate, Hirakawaguchi, Shimo-ume-rin, Momiji-yamashita Gate, and Sakashita Gate of Edo Castle. …
