〘Noun〙 One of the signs at a Kabuki theater. A wooden board with the actor's name and family crest written on it, with a hermitage shape on top. At first it was only used for actors who were performing in Kamigata-Kudari and actors who were making occasional appearances, but later it came to include the name of the actor and the author. It can also refer to a high-ranking actor who can have their name displayed on it.
