Kashiwagi Mikuriya

Japanese:
Kashiwagi Mikuriya
A mikuriya (kitchen) in the territory of Ise Jingu Shrine, located in Koga County, Omi Province. This area is now the former Minakuchi Town area of Koga City, Shiga Prefecture. It was originally the territory of Minamoto no Yoshiaki, who built Konkoin Temple at Onjo-ji Temple and appointed his son Kakugi as its chief priest, and donated Kashiwagi-go and Yamamura-go as a ranch for Buddhist lanterns. In 1113, he donated the head family offices of both villages to the regent Fujiwara Tadazane, making them ranches for the regent family. It was established as a mikuriya in 1165, and became part of the territory of Ise Geku in 1187. According to an inspection in 1331, the area of Gensakuden was 298 cho, and there were five villages: Kashiwagi Hongo, Sakodo, Kaminoyamamura, Nakayamamura, and Shimoyamamura (Yamanaka documents). There was also another manor called Ujikawara no Ho, which, together with the Hoda of Kashiwagi no Mikuriya, was called Koga no Ho. Manor officials were the Geshi (lower rank) of these various districts, the Kendan (inspector rank) of the Sogo district, and the Hoshi (chief priest) of the Ritual Head. The Jito (land steward) of the Hongo district was held by the Settsu clan, but the Kendan and Hoshi positions were passed down from generation to generation by the Yamanaka clan, and the Geshi and Myoshu (head priest) positions were shared by the Yamanaka and Tomo clans. As vassals of the Muromachi Shogunate, the Yamanaka clan maintained their power independent of the control of the Shugo, and played an active role as Gundai (district governor) in Settsu Province under the administration of Hosokawa Harumoto, and in Koga County they formed an alliance with the Tomo and Minobe clans to form the Kashiwagi Mikatachu, supporting the Koga County Chuso.
