Located in northern Ishikawa Prefecture, at the northeastern tip of the Noto Peninsula, this is an old town area in the center of Suzu City. It faces Iida Bay and is home to Iida Port. In 1954, it merged with two towns and six villages - Takaramachi, Shoinmachi, Kamito Village, Wakayama Village, Nao Village, Misaki Village, Saikai Village, and Takojima Village - to form Suzu City. It is home to many government offices and is a lively commercial area. It is the starting point for bus transportation in Oku-Noto, and with resort facilities, it is a base for tourism in Oku-Noto. On the 2nd and 7th of each month, a morning market of agricultural and marine products is held, bringing in a lot of people.
