A long epic poem by the medieval Iranian poet Nizami. It is composed of five parts: the mystical poem Mahzanul Asrar (The Treasure of Secrets), the romantic epic Khosrow and Shirin, Layla and Majnun, Haft Paykal (The Seven Queens), and the heroic epic Iskandar Nameh (The Book of Alexander). The Hamsa was one of the most popular themes for ancient Iranian painters, and like Firdousi's Shahnameh, it was illustrated in great numbers. 中世イランの詩人ニザーミーによる長編叙事詩。神秘主義詩《マフザヌル･アスラール(秘密の宝庫)》，ロマンス叙事詩《ホスローとシーリーン》《ライラとマジュヌーン》《ハフト･パイカル(七王妃)》，英雄叙事詩《イスカンダル･ナーメ(アレクサンドロスの書)》の五部から構成され，《五部作》と訳されることもある。《ハムサ》は古来イランの画家たちが最も好んだ画題の一つで，フィルドゥーシーの《シャー･ナーメ》と同様，非常に多くの挿絵が描かれた。
