Load bearing softening

Load bearing softening
This phenomenon occurs when refractories soften and deform when heated under pressure, and is one of the important properties of refractories. Refractoriness indicates the softening temperature when only its own weight is applied, but in actual kilns where refractories are used, they are under load. Since the softening and deformation under load varies greatly depending on the type and properties of the refractory, in order to understand its properties, refractories are usually heated under a load of 2 kgf/cm2 and the state of softening and deformation is tested. When this load-softening test is performed, the curve shown in the figure is obtained.
