Anti-Atlas [Mountains] - Anti-Atlas

The name Atlas was given to this area by Europeans because they believed it to be the home of Atlas in Greek mythology. In Morocco, the largest of the Atlas Mountains is the Haute Atlas, with the Anti-Atlas to the southwest and the Middle Atlas to the northeast. The Berbers live semi-nomadic and transhumant lifestyles in the mountains, and also farm in the valleys.
