…Hirokane was said to be one of the leading book collectors in the Edo period, with a collection of about 50,000 books stored in three stacks. After his death, most of his books were transferred to the lord of the Awa domain, Hachisuka Narimasa, who added them to the Awa Bunko. After the Meiji Restoration, the stacks were entrusted to the Tokushima Prefectural Library, but most of them were destroyed in air raids during World War II and a fire at the library in 1950. …
