…The original inhabitants lived in the north and were called the Picts, but Britons from Wales came to the southwest, and in the second half of the 6th century the Angles settled in the eastern Lowlands. Of these, the Scots united the Picts to form the Kingdom of Alba in 843, and in 1034, Duncan I, who descended from them, united the four tribes mentioned above to establish the Kingdom of Scotland. From Duncan to Macbeth, Malcolm III inherited a Celtic society, and the church also largely followed the methods of the Celtic Church. …
