Another name for the freshwater fish mantis (also known as ayukake) belonging to the family Cottus, order Perciformes, class Osteichthyes. In Fukui Prefecture, it is called araregako. The name comes from the sight of the fish lying belly up on a hail day, drifting along the surface, with the white hail hitting its white belly.
