Missouri [river] - Missouri
The largest tributary of the Mississippi River in the north-central United States. It originates in the Rocky Mountains in southwestern Montana, flows southeast, and joins the Mississippi River near St. Louis, Missouri. Its total length is 4,086 km. Its tributaries include the Yellowstone, Platte, and Kansas. It has suffered a lot of damage from floods caused by snowmelt, and since 1940, comprehensive development of the Missouri basin has progressed, with dams such as the Fort Peck dam being built.
