Araki Murahide
1640-1718 A Japanese mathematician from the early to mid-Edo period.
Born in 1630. Born in Edo. Studied under Takahara Kisshu and Seki Takakazu. He had his pupil Otaka Yoshimasa edit Seki's posthumous manuscript, which was published as "Katsuyo Sanpo." "Araki Sensei's Tea Conversation," written by his pupil Matsunaga Yoshisuke, tells the history of the early days of Japanese mathematics. He passed away on July 15, 1612. He was 79 years old. He was commonly known as Hikoshirō.

寛永17年生まれ。江戸の人。高原吉種(きっしゅ),関孝和にまなぶ。関の遺稿を自分の門人大高由昌(よしまさ)に編集させ,「括要算法」として刊行。門弟松永良弼(よしすけ)がしるした「荒木先生茶談」は和算の初期の歴史をつたえている。享保(きょうほう)3年7月15日死去。79歳。通称は彦四郎。
