American wormseed (Chenopodium ambrosioides var. anthelminticum; wormseed)

A perennial plant of the Chenopodiaceae family, native to tropical America. It has been naturalized in Japan and has become a weed around urban areas. The stems are 1-1.5m tall and have a unique odor. The whole plant contains henopodium oil, an anthelmintic, which is effective against intestinal parasites such as duodenal worms, roundworms, and whipworms. アカザ科の多年草で，熱帯アメリカ原産。日本に帰化し，都会地周辺の雑草となっている。茎の高さ1～1.5m，全体に独特の臭気がある。全草に駆虫剤のヘノポジ油が含まれており，十二指腸虫，回虫，鞭虫などの腸内寄生虫にききめがある。
