It is the main peak of the mountain range that is the eastern branch of the Kunlun Mountains in southeastern Qinghai Province, China, and is located within the great bend of the Yellow River in Qinghai Province, China. In Chinese characters, it is called Animaqing Mountain, also known as Stone-Pile Mountain. It is also called Animaqing Mountain (the central Tibetan pronunciation). In 1944, a US military pilot flying from China to Burma reported that there was a peak higher than Everest (8,848m) in the depths of China, and the name of the mysterious mountain Amnemaqin suddenly became known around the world. The correct altitude was later announced as 7,160m, and was further corrected to 6,282m when it was opened to the outside world in 1980. There are more than 10 high peaks, and in 1960, a climbing team from the Beijing Geological Institute was the first to summit the second peak (6,268m), and the main peak (Maqinggangri) was the first to be summited by a climbing team from the Japanese Joetsu Mountaineering Association (led by Yuzo Tada) in May 1981. Amnematin (pronounced by the Tibetan people living at the foot of the mountain) means "the supreme attendant of the living Buddha," but is usually used to mean "the mountain of the gods."
