Afar people

…At some altitudes of 1000m or higher, where the area is somewhat favored by orographic precipitation, sparse forests of juniper and podocarp trees can be seen, but at lower altitudes below 1000m, sparse bushes of acacia and euphorbia dominate, and along wadis where water flows only in the rainy season, these become denser and are mixed with tamarix. [Hiroshi Toya]
[Residents, Society]
The population is divided into two groups, the Cushitic Afar people in the north and the Somali Issa people in the south, but Arabs and Europeans also live there. The Afar people, who are originally nomadic, live in northeastern Ethiopia, while the Issa people live in Somalia.
