Abahi - Abahi (English spelling) avahi

It is an animal of the Indriidae family in the Primates order of the Mammalia class. It is a single species of prosimian in one genus, endemic to the island of Madagascar. Its hair is grey-brown and fluffy, and its head and body are about 30 cm long, with a tail length of around 40 cm. It is the smallest of the Indriidae family, and the only one that is nocturnal. It has a round face and a short muzzle. Its eyes are large, with light-colored areas around them. It mainly eats leaves, and lives in family groups of 2 to 6 individuals. During the day, it curls up among the leaves in trees, sleeping in groups of 2 to 3 individuals.

哺乳(ほにゅう)綱霊長目インドリ科の動物。1属1種の原猿で、マダガスカル島の固有種。体毛は灰褐色で、ふわふわと密に生え、頭胴長は約30センチメートル、尾長は40センチメートル前後である。インドリ科ではもっとも小形で、唯一の夜行性。顔は丸く、鼻口部は短い。目は大きく、周囲に淡色の部分がある。おもに葉を食べ、2～6頭の家族的な群れをつくる。昼間は樹上の葉の間で体を丸め、2～3頭が固まって眠っている。
