Anode corrosion protection - Anode protection

A method of electrochemical corrosion protection for metallic materials. When a metal is electrolyzed in an aqueous solution using the metal as the anode (anodic polarization), it actively dissolves as metal ions. In this potential region, the rate of metal dissolution increases as the applied voltage increases. Some metals become passivated when the voltage is increased further. Anodic protection is a method of corrosion protection in which the metal to be protected is polarized to its passivation potential using an external power source. Therefore, this method can only be used for metals that passivate, and if the applied voltage is insufficient, it may actually accelerate corrosion, so it is important to always maintain the potential of the metal to be protected at its passive potential. 金属材料を電気化学的に防食する方法．水溶液中で金属を陽極として電気分解(アノード分極)すると，金属イオンとして活性溶解する．この電位領域では，印加する電圧が増加するにつれて金属の溶出速度は増加する．さらに電圧を増加させると不動態化する金属がある．アノード防食は，外部電源により防食しようとする金属を不動態化電位まで分極することにより防食する方法である．したがって，この方法は，不動態化する金属でのみ使うことのできる防食法であり，印加する電圧が不十分であると逆に腐食を加速する可能性もあり，防食する金属の電位を不動態電位につねに維持することが重要である．[別用語参照]カソード防食
