An arch-shaped or bow-shaped cloud that appears at the bottom of a cumulonimbus or cumulus cloud. It is also called a roll cloud, arcus cloud, or shelf cloud. It is used as a meteorological term and has a cloud symbol. Arch clouds form along localized cold fronts that develop due to unstable air, and often cause stormy weather due to intense convection. Their shape is often unclear, but the rougher and more intense the air currents are, the more clearly they can form, and they can look like a giant UFO or dragon.
