...A military commander during the Warring States period. Lord of Kurokawa Castle in Aizu. His childhood name was Shiromaru. He was also known as Heishiro or Heisaburo. His first name was Moriharu. He became a monk and took the name Shishisai. His father was Ashina Morikiyo. He expanded his influence to Minamiaizu and Sendo (Nakadori, Fukushima Prefecture), and brought the Ashina clan to its heyday. In the records of the Muromachi Shogunate in 1563 (Eiroku 6), he is listed as one of the 50 or so "feudal lords living in the country," along with the Later Hojo and Oda. His posthumous name was Zuiun-in Takegan Sokan Daianshu. His grave is at Soei-ji Temple in Aizu-Wakamatsu City.
