Rekidaihoan - Historical Treasures

This is a collection of diplomatic documents and drafts from the Ryukyu Kingdom. All of them are written in classical Chinese, and originally consisted of 262 volumes in three collections and three supplementary collections, some of which no longer exist. It contains documents spanning over 440 years from 1424 (Oei 31) to 1867 (Keio 3). Most of the documents are related to China (Ming and Qing), but it also contains documents related to Southeast Asian countries such as Korea, Siam, Manchuria, Jakarta, and Annam. For a long time, it was kept secret in Kumemura, but in 1933 (Showa 8), researchers came to see it and research began. However, the originals were scattered during the Battle of Okinawa, and currently only a few copies remain, including a handwritten copy at National Taiwan University. It is a treasure trove of diplomatic documents and a first-class historical resource for learning about the Ryukyu Kingdom's foreign relations and foreign trade.

琉球(りゅうきゅう)王国の外交文書および文案を集成したもの。すべて漢文で表記されており、もともとは3集262巻、別集3よりなっていたが、その一部は現存しない。1424年（応永31）から1867年（慶応3）に及ぶ440年余の文書を含む。中国（明(みん)・清(しん)）関係のものが大部分を占めるが、朝鮮をはじめ暹羅(シャム)、満剌加(マラツカ)、爪哇(ジヤワ)、安南(アンナン)など東南アジア諸国関係のものも含まれている。長く久米村(くめむら)に秘蔵されていたが、1933年（昭和8）から研究者の目に触れるようになり、研究が開始された。しかし、沖縄戦で原本は散逸、現在は台湾大学の筆写本ほか数種の写本が残っているにすぎない。外交文書形式の宝庫であると同時に、琉球王国の対外関係、対外貿易を知るうえでの一級史料である。
