Hornblende (Amphibole)

Japanese: 角セン石(角閃石) - かくせんせき（英語表記）amphibole

A general term for a group of hydrous silicate minerals that contain Ca, Mg, Fe, Al, Na, K, etc. in various proportions. The group of minerals that belong to the amphibole group is called the amphibole group. Along with pyroxenes, amphibole is one of the minerals with the widest range of change in chemical composition. In general, the chemical composition of the amphibole group is expressed as W _0-1 X ₂ Y ₅ Z ₈ O ₂₂ (OH) _2. W represents Na and K, X represents metal ions such as Na, Ca, Mg, Fe ²⁺ , and Mn ²⁺ , Y represents ions such as Mg, Fe ²⁺ , Fe ³⁺ , Al, and Ti, and Z represents Si, Al, and Ti ions.
