Japanese: 赤碕[町] - あかさき

An old town in Tohaku District, central Tottori Prefecture. The main settlement, Akasaka, is located in the Katsuta River basin that flows from Mt. Daisen. During the feudal era, it was a post station, and is now one of the prefecture's leading fishing ports. It is in a transitional zone between the commercial areas of Yonago and Kurayoshi, and in addition to rice, the town cultivates vegetables and Nijisseiki pears. It is home to Mt. Senjo. In September 2004, it merged with Tohaku Town, Tohaku District, to form Kotoura Town. 57.68 ^km2 . Population: 8,417 (2003).

鳥取県中部，東伯郡の旧町。主集落の赤碕は大山(だいせん)から流れる勝田川の流域にあり，藩政時代は宿駅，いま県有数の漁港。米子(よなご)と倉吉両商圏の漸移地帯で，米作のほか，蔬菜，二十世紀ナシの栽培を行う。船上山(せんじょうさん)がある。2004年９月東伯郡東伯町と合併し，琴浦町となる。57.68km²。8417人（2003）。
