Addis Ababa Peace Agreement

...The Italian invasion met with strong resistance from Ethiopia, and in the end, the Italian army suffered a major defeat in the Battle of Adwa in March 1896, with about 6,000 of the 16,000 Italian troops killed, and Prime Minister Crispi was ousted. In October of the same year, the Addis Ababa Peace Accords were signed, guaranteeing Ethiopia's sovereignty. Ethiopia maintained its independence for the next 40 years, but Italy began to invade again under the Fascist regime.
