A military commander in the late Muromachi period. Son of Ashikaga Masatomo, the Horikoshi Shogun. When his father Masatomo died of illness in April 1491 (Entoku 3), Chachamaru attacked and killed his half-brother Jundoji and his mother Enman-in (daughter of Mushakoji Takamitsu) in July of the same year, seizing the family headship. However, he believed the slander of a close aide and killed an old vassal, which displeased the old vassals, and the state of Izu fell into chaos. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Ise Sozui (Hojo Soun), lord of Kokokuji Castle in Suruga Province, attacked the Horikoshi Imperial Palace, so Chachamaru fled to Ganjojuin and committed suicide. According to temple legend, the anniversary of his death was October 11 of the same year. His posthumous Buddhist name was Jojuin Fukuyama Hirotoku.
