Diffusion coating

A metal surface treatment method in which another metal is diffused and penetrated into a metal product from the surface at high temperatures to form an alloy coating of both metals. This improves heat resistance and corrosion resistance. It is mainly used for steel products, and depending on the metal being penetrated, there are aluminizing (aluminum), sheradizing (zinc), chromizing (chromium), etc., and penetration is carried out using powder, steam, salt bath, etc. In addition, siliconizing, which penetrates silicon, a non-metal, and boronizing, which penetrates boron, have also been put to practical use.

金属製品に他種金属を高温において表面から拡散浸透させ，両金属の合金被膜を形成させる金属表面処理法。耐熱・耐食性などが向上する。対象は主として鉄鋼製品で，浸透させる金属によりアルミナイジング（アルミニウム），シェラダイジング（亜鉛），クロマイジング（クロム）などがあり，浸透は粉体，蒸気，塩浴などによって行われる。また，非金属であるケイ素を浸透させるシリコナイジング，ホウ素を浸透させるボロナイジングなども実用化されている。
