〘Noun〙 The name of the cord of the four-legged crown called bokutou . It is distinguished from the two legs attached to the back, called ei . A cord attached to the left and right sides to prevent the crown from coming off, pulled up and tied around the base of the topknot . The remaining part is allowed to hang down at the nape of the neck. Later, this became a formality, with the cord sewn to the front of the base of the koji . 〘名〙 幞頭(ぼくとう)という四脚冠の緒の名。後部につける二脚を纓(えい)とよんで区別する。冠が脱げないように左右につけ、引き上げて髻(もとどり)の根をくくった紐。余りはうなじに垂らす。のちには形式化して、巾子(こじ)の根の前方に緒を縫いつけた。〔北山抄(1012‐21頃)〕
