1350‐1430 Grand Duke of Lithuania. Reigned 1392-1430. Son of Grand Duke Kastutis. His father, together with Grand Duke Algirdas, divided the Grand Duchy of Lithuania into East and West, and built a prosperous country during the period when the two Grand Duchesses coexisted. In the West, he and Vytautas prevented the advance of the Teutonic Knights to the East. However, when Jogaila (later King of Poland, Jagiełło, c. 1350-1434, reigned 1386-1434) succeeded his father, the Grand Duchy was in a state of internal conflict for a while.
