Japanese: 悪人正機説 - あくにんしょうきせつ

The fundamental thought of Shinran, the founder of Jodo Shinshu. In the Tannisho, it is written, "Even good people can attain rebirth in the Pure Land, how much more so can bad people?" Good people (those who do good things by their own power) try to attain enlightenment through their own abilities and have little desire to rely on the Buddha, but ordinary people (bad people) who are caught up in worldly desires have a strong feeling that they have no choice but to rely on the Buddha's salvation, and so they are saved by Amida Buddha. This leads to the idea of absolute other-power, that everything depends on the original vow of Amida Buddha.

浄土真宗の開祖親鸞(しんらん)の根本思想。《歎異鈔(たんにしょう)》に〈善人なおもて往生をとぐ，いはんや悪人をや〉とある。善人（自力作善の人）は自己の能力で悟りを開こうとし，仏に頼ろうとする気持が薄いが，煩悩にとらわれた凡夫（悪人）は仏の救済に頼るしかないとの気持が強いため，阿弥陀仏に救われるとした。すべては阿弥陀仏の本願によるとの絶対他力の思想につながる。
