A Latin American indigenous witch doctor. The causes of illnesses he treats are various, including imbalance of air (air), susto or espanto (fright), muina (extreme anger), imbalance of heat and cold, the evil eye, disharmony between the person and the nagual (animal that possesses a person) or tono (guardian animal), the work of various spirits (such as a mestizo-like evil spirit), magic, sorcery, and the wrath of a saint or god. Which causes are emphasized varies by region. While the symptoms are mild, the family uses herbs to cure the patient.
