...The leaflets are slightly smaller than those of the horse chestnut, the underside is hairless, the edges are sharply serrated, and the protrusions on the fruit are thorn-like. The red-flowered horse chestnut, A. carnea Hayne, is a hybrid between the horse chestnut and A. pavia L.
