Mr. Masuyama

Japanese: 増山氏 - ましやまうじ

A feudal lord of the early modern period. Born in Shimotsuke Province. As Masatoshi was the younger brother of Hojuin, the birth mother of Shogun Tokugawa Ietsuna, he was appointed as a feudal lord in Sagami Province with a fief of 10,000 koku in 1647 (Shoho 4). In 1659 (Manji 2), he was transferred to Nishio, Mikawa with a fief of 20,000 koku. Then, during the reign of Masamitsu, he was transferred to Shimodate, Hitachi, and then to Nagashima, Ise in 1702 (Genroku 15), from which time he continued until the end of the Edo period. The head of the family was given the titles Danjo Shosuke, Tsushima no Kami, Kawachi no Kami, etc. From the middle period onwards, many people were appointed to important positions such as Soshaban and Wakadoshiyori. 近世大名。下野国の出身。正利は将軍徳川家綱の生母宝樹院の弟であったことから，1647年(正保4)相模国内1万石の大名に取り立てられる。59年(万治2)三河西尾2万石に移封。ついで正弥（まさみつ）のとき，常陸下館を経て，1702年(元禄15)伊勢長島に移され，以後幕末に至る。当主は弾正少弼，対馬守，河内守などを称する。中期以降は奏者番，若年寄などの要職就任者を多く出す。維新後は子爵。【大森映子】
