〘Noun〙 The name for the early akahon books produced around the Enpo era ( 1673-81 ). The name comes from the fact that they were small books measuring half a page of paper. Later, around the Kyoho era ( 1716-36 ), they became larger, taking on the nakahon format of half a page of large paper, with five pages per book becoming the standard format for akahon books.
