Six species are known: the Blue Banded Polyplectron (Sumatra), the Red Polyplectron (Malay Peninsula), the Brown Polyplectron (Indochina), the Grey Polyplectron (Assam, Myanmar, Indochina, Hainan), the Crested Polyplectron (Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo), and the Palawan Polyplectron (Palawan). Males are 50-60cm long, have 2-4 claws, a slender body, and a long tail. During the breeding season, they display their wings and tails. ...
